Opening Ceremony: Bridging Education and Industry
The conference begins with a Welcome Address by Dr. Dan Kinney, President of IWCC, who will highlight the importance of aligning education with industry demands. His remarks will focus on how IWCC fosters a supportive environment for students to achieve their academic and career goals.
The Keynote Speech titled "Bridging Education and Industry" will be delivered by a prominent local business leader, who will share insights on how education is the foundation for building a strong workforce and how students can position themselves for success in the rapidly changing job market. This keynote will set the stage for a
day filled with learning, inspiration, and opportunity.
Workforce Development Track: Preparing for Emerging Careers
With the ever-evolving job market, the Workforce Development Track is designed to help students stay ahead of industry trends. A Panel Discussion on "Emerging Careers in Southwest Iowa" will feature regional employers who will discuss the fastestgrowing fields in the area, from manufacturing and healthcare to IT and business services. This session will provide students with a clear understanding of the skills and qualifications in demand by local employers.
Students can also attend the Workshop titled "Skills for the 21st Century Workplace," led by IWCC Career Services. This session will cover essential skills like communication, problem-solving, adaptability, and teamwork—key traits that are critical for success in today’s workforce.

The Technology and Innovation track will delve into how technological advancements are reshaping industries. In a seminar on "The Impact of AI and Automation on Future Jobs," IWCC IT faculty will explore the role of artificial intelligence and automation in the workforce, examining which jobs are most likely to be affected and how students can prepare for these changes.
For those interested in cybersecurity, a Hands-on Session titled "Cybersecurity Basics for Every Professional" will teach students the fundamentals of digital security, a skill increasingly important across all career fields. Students will gain practical knowledge on how to protect themselves and their workplaces from cyber threats.
Healthcare Pathways: Innovations in Medicine and Training
Healthcare students and those exploring this field will find the Healthcare Pathways segment particularly valuable. A Guest Lecture on "Advancements in Rural Healthcare" will be delivered by a local medical professional, discussing how technological advancements and policy changes are improving healthcare access in rural areas. For students planning to transfer to a four-year university, the Community College
Transfer Success track is a must-attend. The Panel Discussion on "From IWCC to University: Alumni Success Stories" will feature graduates who have successfully transitioned from IWCC to universities. They will share their experiences, offering advice on how to make the most of transfer opportunities and navigate the challenges of moving to a new academic environment.
Additionally, the Information Session on "Maximizing Transfer Credits and
Scholarships" will provide crucial information on how students can ensure a smooth transfer process. Attendees will learn how to optimize their credits and explore available scholarship opportunities to help ease the financial burden of further education.
Student Support and Resources: Balancing Life and Education
Success in college goes beyond academics, and the Student Support and Resources track addresses the importance of work-life balance. In a Workshop titled "Balancing Work, Life, and Education," Student Services staff, working with the teen experts at Parenting Teenagers Academy, will share strategies to help students manage their time, reduce stress, and stay focused on their goals, even while juggling multiple responsibilities.
At the Resource Fair, students can explore the various support services IWCC offers, including academic tutoring, career counseling, and wellness resources. The fair will also showcase the many clubs and organizations on campus that students can join to enhance their college experience and build a sense of community.
Industry Partnerships: Building Connections for Career Success
The conference places a strong emphasis on connecting students with local industry leaders. During the Networking Lunch, students will have the opportunity to meet representatives from local businesses and IWCC’s industry partners.
